Everything is cooked to order. The donuts are made in the building every morning, the soup is homemade and never frozen, and there is a senior menu on both breakfast and dinner.

The French batter cake is the thing to know about here. It turns up as a pancake, as a burrito wrapped around eggs and bacon, and as a Monte Cristo with Swiss and grilled ham nestled between two of them.

Six days a week this is a breakfast and lunch house that closes in the early afternoon. On Friday it opens again at four for a heap of fried shrimp and a five-piece tender plate, and closes at seven.

150 Elkhorn Road

You already know the building.

It is the igloo. There is nothing else on Elkhorn Road shaped like it and nothing else in Walworth County shaped like it either, and for most people around here it has been a landmark for as long as they have been driving past it. The sign by the door still says Arctic Circle Diner, and the dome it points at is the dining room.

Now it is a diner again, open at six.

Breakfast is served from 6:00am every day we are open. Saturdays and Sundays are breakfast only, 6:00am to noon. Closed Tuesdays. Friday is the only evening service, 4:00 to 7:00pm.
